You may want to know, “Why should I buy soy candles?”  There are many reasons that soy candles are preferable over paraffin.

     1.     Soy wax comes from all natural soybeans, which are grown here in the U.S. by local farmers.  This is not only better for you and your family, but also helps to boost the local economy.
2.  Soy candles burn cooler, which makes them safer for households that have pets or small children.  Since the soy wax burns cooler, it also burns slower, making your candle last longer.
3.  Paraffin wax, which is a petroleum by-product, has been tested by the American Lung Association, and has been found to contain 11 documented toxins, two of which are carcinogens.  Paraffin soot has also been found to be as harmful as second-hand smoke.  Paraffin candles may be cheaper to buy, but you pay the real cost with your health.  
4.    Soy candles are also more eco-friendly because the wax is biodegradable.  If you 
have a spill, clean up is easy with soap 
and water in most cases.

When you burn your candle the first time, it’s important to remember that your candle has a

“memory”.   You should burn your candle long enough that your melt pool reaches across the width of the entire container.  This will prevent the candle from “tunneling” or burning straight down the center in future burnings. 

While no candles can claim to be soot-free, soy candles release much less soot than paraffin candles, if they are maintained properly.  The wick should be no longer than ¼ inch when lit.  
If the flame becomes too large or begins to flicker, the candle has been burning too long.  You should extinguish the flame, let the wax cool, trim the wick, and relight your candle.
